Description
Digital Bathymetric Model or DBM (from the English Digital Bathymetric Model) in grid format, year 1953-1954. The product, reconstructed from the original data of the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy (IIM), represents bathymetry through a regular cell model to which is associated the information of the depth of the Adriatic Sea in front of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The starting data are a copy of the original maps of the surveys (retrieved in Genoa at the IIM), in which the values of depth of the punctual backdrop, read by the echosounder, were transcribed. The maps were georeferenced and digitized. Not having a homogeneous quoted plane, but punctual bathymetric data arranged along the relevant transects, the bathymetric curves (Isobate) were first processed from the punctual values and then the DBM was processed through a partly automatic and partly manual procedure.
