SAC - Special Areas of Conservation - Natura 2000 network
Description
The sites relating to the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC were initially identified as SCIs (Sites of Community Interest proposed) by the delegated regions pursuant to Presidential Decree No 357/99. Subsequently, they were assessed and included in the list of SCIs (Sites of Community Interest) by the European Commission through publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Only after the approval of Protection and Conservation Measures (M.T.C.) or Management Plans (P.d.G) by the Regions have SCIs been designated by Ministerial Decree as Special Areas of Conservation (SACs). All sites in the Basilicata Region are SACs.
