PTGM Dashboard - Dense, Free and Transition Areas
Description
Areas of dense, free and transitional areas, identified by the General Metropolitan Territorial Plan (PTGM), per municipality. The plan defines dense areas as those parts of the territory characterized by a consolidated building fabric and qualified service functions for the community and having a significant urban plan. Free areas, on the other hand, consist of the territory outside the consolidated building and urban fabric or the built-up areas, and in any case the dense ones. They have a predominant agricultural, forestry or natural function and are to be preserved from new building interventions. Transition areas are buffer zones between dense and free areas, characterized by the alternating presence of built-up areas and residual free areas. Due to their absent or poor environmental value, they can be the subject of limited interventions to complete the existing building fabric. (Source: Metropolitan City of Turin)
