Description

Register of vehicle manufacturers and vehicle parts. A series of international VIN standards and their application ensures a uniform marking system for all road vehicles manufactured worldwide. The VIN marking (unique vehicle marking number) must be such that it unambiguously identifies every vehicle manufactured worldwide and there must be no two identical VIN markings on different vehicles manufactured in the world for a period of less than 30 years. In order to ensure such a marking of a vehicle, a WMI (World Manufacturer Identifier) marking has been introduced as part of the VIN marking for each manufacturer in the world and this marking is installed as an integral part of the VIN marking in specific locations within the VIN marking, which allows the State and the vehicle manufacturer to be read directly from the VIN marking.
