Description
Updated on 27 March 2024 - Statistics up to 4th quarter 2023.
Since September 2013, the Habitat Observatory of the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning and STATEC have jointly disseminated quarterly statistics on the sale prices of apartments, making it possible to distinguish between existing apartments (similar to the old market) and apartments under construction (similar to the new market, for properties sold under a Future State of Completion (FSA) contract).
These statistics are based on the notarial acts, as included in the Land Advertising data sent by the Registration and Domains Administration. The different stages of processing the raw data to arrive at the statistics of the sale prices of apartments are described in the joint methodological document of STATEC and the Observatoire de l'Habitat, downloadable below.
STATEC and the Observatoire de l'Habitat also publish twice a year a joint publication entitled "Housing in Figures". Each semester, the aim of this joint publication is to take stock of the housing market situation, but also to provide additional insights into the housing market. To this end, the publication is structured in three additional sections:
1. main trends in residential property: changes in apartment sales prices, activity on the apartment sales market, construction activity, construction prices, etc.;
2. a dashboard including more structural statistics on the levels of sale prices of apartments according to the area of housing, on price levels in the different geographical areas and major municipalities of the country;
3. One or more focus : more specific studies on a topic related to residential real estate.
Please note: STATEC also provides a hedonic index of recorded apartment prices, which makes it possible to analyse changes over time in house prices, available on the portal for public statistics: https://statistiques.public.lu/dam-assets/en/donnees-autres-formats/indicators-short-term/economy-total-prix/D4011.xls
