Levies according to nature and administration: achievements

Description

As set out in the general statement of the federal budget, these tables show the levies levied on tax and non-tax revenue collected by the federal government. This "revenue received by the federal government for the financing of other powers" consists of revenue ceded to the European Union, assigned revenue (mainly social security) and resources financing the Communities and Regions. The revenue collected by the federal government on a cash basis consists of tax and non-tax revenue collected by the federal government. It also includes revenues that are then transferred to other public authorities or institutions (except local authorities). As indicated, these tables follow Belgian budgetary practices which deviate from the ESA-2010 classification (listed inter alia in the National Accounts and the “Detailed Tax Inventories” (European Commission)). For your information: The additional amounts granted to provinces, agglomerations and municipalities are shown only in Table 3: "additional payments to provinces, agglomerations and municipalities". This revenue does not appear in the General Statement of the Budget, nor in the budget of the ways and means, nor in the other tables. Only annual data are included in this file. Revenues collected by the federal government but transferred to local authorities (e.g. additional municipal cents and, in the past, additional property tax cents for provinces and municipalities) are not included in the tables. When the Communities and Regions take over the regional tax (collection) service (from the federal government), this revenue will no longer be included in the statistics on revenue collected by the federal government.
