Population by group of nationality of origin

Description

This statistic provides information on the origin of the population of the City of BrusselsThis origin statistic is based on the following characteristics: the current and first registered nationality of the person and the first registered nationality of the parents. These characteristics are available in the National Register of Natural Persons (RNPP) managed by the FPS Interior. The starting point for determining the origin is the current nationality. If it is not Belgian, the person falls into the category ‘non-Belgian’.If the current nationality is Belgian, the first registered nationality is considered second. If it is non-Belgian, the person belongs to the category ‘Belgian of foreign origin’. If the current nationality and the first registered nationality are Belgian then the first registered nationality of the parents is examined. If one or both parents have a first registered non-Belgian nationality, then the person belongs to the category "Belgian of foreign origin".Finally, people who do not belong to any of the above categories are classified in the category "Belgian of Belgian origin"The nationality is finally subdivided into four main categories: Belgian; Neighbouring country, namely Germany, France, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom; EU27, with the exception of Belgium and neighbouring countries; Outside EU27
