Physical trajectory profile data from glider sp067 deployed by Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) in the Coastal Waters of California from 2021-06-08 to 2021-09-14 (NCEI Accession 0242942)

Description

We are analyzing cross-shore fluxes associated with coastal upwelling filaments in the Central-Southern California sector of the California Current System. We seek to resolve the occurrence, geographic extent, vertical extent, and persistence time of coastal upwelling filaments in a specific region of coastline. We also are quantifying the transport of volume, mass, nutrients, and plankton associated with individual filaments, as well as the net fluxes integrated along a section of coastline. The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this dataset from the Integrated Ocean Observing System's National Glider Data Assembly Center (IOOS NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation.
