Magic2 Map of Critical Points Hierarchisation (PC): Ligurian Sea. (RNDT-Dataset) — Version 2.0
Description
This document is a map (GeoTIFF) representing Criticity Points (PCs) mapped in the Magic1 project and their hierarchisation (executed in the Magic2 project). In particular this map shows the sector of the Ligurian Sea. By hierarchisation we mean the subdivision of PCs into 5 main types in relation to the geological process to which they are associated: canyon/channel heads, landslides, tectonic features, volcanoes and leakage of fluids (Pockmark).In addition to these there are two other types in which include PCs not classifiable due to lack of data and PCs falling into other categories (relicts, etc.). It is important to emphasise that the hierarchisation of PCs is relative in that it takes place within each category (they must not be compared with each other points of criticality related to risks of different types) similar to what happens on the ground, e.g. for the different natural hazards (hydrogeological, seismic, volcanic).In the Magic Project, one or more morpho-batimetric elements have been defined as one or more morpho-batimetric elements at which, in the opinion of the interpreter, a phenomenon that could cause damage to the surrounding infrastructures and/or coastal communities could be generated. The definition of PCs takes into account all types of data available (historical, seismic, modelling) and is also based on the specific knowledge of the interpreters in the different areas. All this implies that the identification of PCs is extremely subjective and related to previous knowledge and data available to the interpreter.
