The present invention provides a method for manufacturing 3-alkoxy-2-halogenocyclobutanone derivatives represented by the following general formula (IV) through the following reaction, using a vinyl ether represented by the following general formula (V) and a halogenoacetyl halide represented by the following general formula (VI) as starting materials, nwherein R 1 represents an alkyl group and R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 are the same or different and each represents a halogen atom.
