Description
The method involves moving a gripper (19) along a body (6) and upto a lateral end region of the body for lifting the body out of a bundle (5). The body is moved to a vertical position with the gripper, where the vertical position is higher than predetermined minimum height. Vertical center lines of a sensor (17), the gripper and another gripper (18) are located in a common vertical plane extending transversely perpendicular to a conveying direction. The picked-up body is moved to a depositing location by using the grippers, or the picked-up body is held in a holding position for transfer. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for separating rod-shaped bodies from a bundle of bodies.
