Description

Preparation of alpha-phenoxy-omega-hydroxy-polyalkylenglycol compounds of formula (I) comprises adding a basic catalyst to a phenoxy alcohol compound of formula (a); removing water from the mixture and alkoxylating the mixture with an alkyleneoxide compound of formula (b). R : H, CH3 or 2-4C alkyl; k : 1-3; and n : 10-500. An independent claim is included for a mixture comprising (I) (in large amount) and an alcohol compound of formula ((HO-[CH2-CH(R)-O]m-H) (where m is 1-1000) (0.01-5 wt.%). [Image].
