A method for producing a document of value involves formation of a laminate cover (25) with a surrounding sealed edge (24), by covering with at least one laminate layer, on at least one respective document side, a security insert (15) and a transponder unit (21). An independent claim is also included for a resultant document of value in the form of a booklet.
