Limits of the resurgence belt in the Province of Vicenza, 2014 update of the LIFE AQUOR project (LIFE10/ENV/IT/000380)
Description
The LIFE AQUOR project (LIFE10/ENV/IT/380), with a work programme carried out from September 2011 to April 2015, was conceived as a demonstration action aimed at encouraging the reversal of the current trend of overexploitation of groundwater resources and increasing the rate of hydrogeological recharge of aquifers, with the aim of rebalancing the aquifers of the Alta Pianura Vicentina (Veneto Region) and ensuring their sustainable use by current and future generations. The initiative is based on the active involvement of stakeholders and aims to consolidate a shared commitment to the quantitative protection of one of Europe's most important underground water assets. Among the monitoring actions of the AQUOR project, a study was carried out in the Province of Vicenza (action D4), aimed at the census and verification of the qualitative-quantitative status of the resurgences. The dataset indicates the limit of mountain and hydrogeological valley that define the sector in which active resurgences are detected (resurgence belt) in the Province of Vicenza.
