Vocation for surface charging of the LIFE AQUOR project (LIFE10/ENV/IT/000380)
Description
The LIFE AQUOR project (LIFE10/ENV/IT/380), with a work programme carried out from September 2011 to April 2015, was conceived as a demonstration action aimed at encouraging the reversal of the current trend of overexploitation of groundwater resources and increasing the rate of hydrogeological recharge of aquifers, with the aim of rebalancing the aquifers of the Alta Pianura Vicentina (Veneto Region) and ensuring their sustainable use by current and future generations. The initiative is based on the active involvement of stakeholders and aims to consolidate a shared commitment to the quantitative protection of one of Europe's most important underground water assets. An important action developed within AQUOR is the definition of the Charter of vocation of artificial groundwater recharge. The types of recharge intervention are varied but can be grouped into 2 groups, the works that inject water from the surface layers of the soil and those that recharge in depth. Surface recharge means the infiltration of water into the subsoil through infrastructures that do not cross the surface layers of soil (conventionally referred to the first 150 cm of depth from the ground floor) thus interacting directly with them through a surface percolation action. The purpose of surface recharge is to exploit the self-purifying capacity of the soil and to reap the multi-objective benefits of extensive surface recharge (e.g. naturalistic, agronomic or forestry). The dataset indicates the areas with different vocation to surface recharge of the territory affected by the AQUOR project. Attributes and their meanings: ID: Unique identification code; ROADS: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of the road network including the respective area of compliance; HYDROGRAPHY: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of the water supply; RAILWAYS: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of the railway network including the respective buffer zone; ELECTRODOT: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of the power lines including their area of compliance; METANODOTT: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of methane pipelines including their buffer zone; POZZI_PUB: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of public wells including their buffer zone and catch area; DEPURATORS: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of purifiers including their buffer zone; SITI_DEGR: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of degraded sites; DISCHARGE:Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of landfills including their buffer zone; COMPANIES_RI: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of major accident risk holdings including their area of compliance; MIRRORS_LA: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of lake mirrors; ALVEI_DREN: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of drainage beds; URBA: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of urbanised areas; CAVE: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of active or completed but not yet extinct quarries; FOGNATURE: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of the sewer system; TANKS: Field defining the presence [0] or absence [1] of buried fuel tanks; GEOLOGY: Field that defines the vocation to recharge on the basis of the geological structure of the subsoil: values 0,6/0,8/1 [1:very suitable]; ITOT50_150: Field defining the infiltrability index excluding the surface layer, section 50-150, based on the geopeological structure of the soil [0:inadequate; 1:very suitable]; AGGREGATE: Field resulting from aggregation of previous fields [0:inadequate; 1:very suitable]; AREA: Extension of the area of the polygon [in square meters]
