Description
The [pollen information service] (http://ambiente.provincia.bz.it/aria/serviceo-informazione-pollinica.asp) is responsible for monitoring and studying the biological component of airborne particulate matter present in the atmosphere with particular attention to pollen and fungal spores.
The service publishes weekly [pollen bulletins] (http://ambiente.provincia.bz.it/aria/bollettino-pollini.asp) informing about pollen in the air in South Tyrol. Through the web services offered here the aerobiological monitoring data can be found online in different formats. The analyses provide daily mean concentrations expressed in pollen or fungal spores per cubic metre of air.
The data collected are suitable in the environmental field to integrate air quality monitoring, the estimation of plant species biodiversity, the study of climate change and in the health field to produce extremely useful information in diagnostics, therapy, research and prevention of respiratory allergic diseases. Further uses are also envisaged in the agronomic field and in the protection of artistic assets (e.g. in libraries, archives, museums).
