With a view to supporting the State of Senegal in its educational policy and to consider relevant and effective alternatives, USAID, through its mission in Senegal, undertook this study in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education (MEN) to fill the data gap and improve understanding of barriers to universal education for children aged 6 to 16. This study also includes an analysis of the issues of vocational training for youth in the 17-24 age group. This study, conducted by the USAID/Senegal Monitoring and Evaluation Project (MEP), is based on a participatory approach with the MEN and other stakeholders. The overall objective of the study is to provide up-to-date and national data on children and young people outside the education system in Senegal, with the aim of ensuring better management of their educational and training needs and expectations. More specifically, this study should provide comprehensive information on the extent and nature of the phenomena of non-schooling and schooling, as well as its configuration at the national level and in the different regions of the country; the social, demographic and economic profile of children and young people outside the education system; the reasons, determinants and explanatory factors of the phenomenon. This dataset contains the results of the study. |
