Oceanographic and surface meteorological data collected from station Center for the Urban River at Beczak by Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS) and assembled by Mid-Atlantic Regional Association Coastal Ocean Observing System (MARACOOS) in the Hudson River from 2014-06-12 to 2017-10-20 (NCEI Accession 0163602)

Description

This dataset contains oceanographic and surface meteorological data collected at Center for the Urban River at Beczak, a fixed station in the Hudson River. These sensors measure AIR TEMPERATURE, BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, CONDUCTIVITY, DEPTH - OBSERVATION, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, INCOMING SOLAR RADIATION, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, OXYGEN - PERCENT SATURATION, PRECIPITATION AMOUNT, RELATIVE HUMIDITY, SALINITY, WATER TEMPERATURE, WIND DIRECTION, WIND GUST, WIND SPEED, pH and turbidity at frequent intervals in the nearshore coastal ocean. Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS) collected the data and provided the data to MARACOOS, which assembles data from Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS) and other sub-regional coastal and ocean observing systems of the Mid-Atlantic Coastal United States, submitted the data to NCEI as part of the Integrated Ocean Observing System Data Assembly Centers (IOOS DACs) Data Stewardship Program. The data are made available in netCDF formatted files, which follow the Climate and Forecast metadata convention (CF) and the Attribute Convention for Data Discovery (ACDD). Each month, NCEI adds to this dataset the data collected during the previous month. The meteorological and hydrological instrumentation are located on the Science Barge (40° 56'10.52" N, 73° 54'15.47" W) which is located just south of the Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB). The Science Barge is located directly north of where the Saw Mill River outflows into the Hudson River, and ~500’ south (downstream) of a sewage outfall. The magnitude and frequency of the effects from these features on the sensor data are not yet known.
