Eastern Philosophy Lexicon
Description
"Lexicon of Eastern Thought" is the first reference work of its kind in Estonia. It contains the most important terms, concepts and names of the teachings and thought trends that have emerged mainly in India and China.
There are about 1100 keywords in the lexicon. Each term is accompanied by its original language equivalents (Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese). The basic concepts of Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism and several other Eastern teachings have been explained. Their main texts are also presented.
As an annex to Leksikon, a bibliography of texts from Eastern thought history, made from original languages published in Estonian, is included. The lexicon is equipped with comprehensive registers. Leksikon is intended primarily for historians, philologists, philosophers and theologians, translators and publishers, and anyone interested in the Orient.
The total number of terms is 3,500.
