The Estonian peat research database
Description
The Estonian peat research database contains information on the spread and characteristics of peat, including: (1) descriptions of 558 peat areas; (2) georeferenced plans of peat areas; (3) data on more than 2,700 sample points; and 32,000 samples, together with the results of the analysis and the definitions of the botanical composition of peat. The database was created with the support of projects 12623 and 14460 of the Environmental Investment Centre. Mall Orru, Associate Professor of the Institute of Geology at Tallinn University of Technology, was responsible for implementing the projects. The basic data set of the project is mainly collected by the Estonian Geological Survey and stored in the Geological Survey. The peat research database uses the structure and technical solution of the earth's data management platform SARV, which is part of the NATARC services of the Estonian research infrastructure.
