Linguistic attitudes in Estonia 2015
Description
Data from a survey on linguistic attitudes carried out in Estonia in the spring of 2015, ordered by the Sustainability of Estonian in the Era of Globalisation research project of the University of Tartu. The demographically balanced sample consists of 1006 respondents aged 15-74. The questions cover the respondents' basic demographic information, their language proficiencies, daily language choices, linguistic attitudes and views on language politics. The respondents could choose either an Estonian or Russian version of the questionnaire (their choices are recorded in the dataset). The dataset consists of 200 variables, most of them being responses to the questions, along with some derived variables. The dataset comes with meta-data that describes the variables and lists the questionnaire questions and their English translations; the original questionnaires are available as well. The data are available in multiple formats (including plain text csv). This research was supported by the Estonian Research Council grant IUT20-3.
