NPP Olkiluoto-4 Evaluation of additional information received after the Bilateral Consultation
Description
Within the framework of the cross-border Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) adopted for the construction of new nuclear power plants in Finland, an Expert Statement was elaborated on behalf of the Umweltbundesamt. The Expert Statement presents a review of additional information provided by the Finnish authorities and the project sponsor after the bilateral consultation. The main conclusion is: The information presented is not complete. Relevant issues concerning safety are not discussed properly. From the Austrian point of view, the question of the worst case release scenario still remains unanswered. The Expert Statement concludes with open questions which should be resolved during the upcoming Finnish decision-making process at government level and the nuclear licensing process, respectively.
