Number of debts for which garnishment has been effected

Description

In the event of non-payment of tax and non-tax debts on the due date, and after a summons to pay has been sent, the AGPR may have the attachment-stop-execution carried out in the hands of a third party on the sums due to the debtor up to the amount of all or part of the aforementioned debts. This attachment is effected by registered mail or by electronic means (with certain bodies with which an agreement has been concluded for this purpose). There was an increase in the total number of debts included in attachment orders, mainly due to the significant increase in criminal fines and non-tax claims. This is due to the abolition of non-tax collection offices and the transfer of their powers (including the types of debt mentioned above) to collection teams depending on their domicile/head office. The implementation of the single receiver principle thus makes it possible to take over all the debts of a debtor in the same seizure.
