Number of households by type, year and municipality in the Brussels-Capital Region (Statbel) This statistic is devoted to households formed by the resident population, as recorded in the National Register of Natural Persons (RNPP) for the year in question. Definitions Households: A household is defined as people who usually share a dwelling and live in it together. A household is thus constituted, either by a person usually living alone, or by two or more persons who are united or not by ties of kinship. The notion of reference person is crucial for this statistic, as it is necessary to situate all members of the household according to their relationship with this person. The person designated as the reference person is in theory the one who manages and / or ensures all the affairs of the household. In reality, it is the person who represents the household for administrative matters. In the majority of cases, it is an adult male. Place of residence: the municipality of the main residence is available in TI001. The address of the main residence (postal code, street code, house number and box number) is available in TI020. The PBSR defines a principal residence as follows: the place where members of a multi-person household usually live, whether or not they are related, or the place where a single person usually lives. Private households: All households that are not collective households are private households. Collective households: Determining the collective character of a dwelling is an exclusively regional competence. This information is included in TI141 of the National Register of Natural Persons. Examples of collective households: religious communities, nursing homes, orphanages, student or worker housing, hospital institutions and prisons.
