High-resolution climate change scenarios for the 21st century and historical climate indicators for the period 1971-2000
Description
Historical and future data set, consisting of some of the climate indicators obtained in the framework of the SCENARIOS II (2017 KLIMATEK call) and URBAN KLIMA 2050 (LIFE 18 IPC/ES/000001 LIFE-IP URBAN KLIMA 2050) projects, specifically the following: maximum average temperature (TX), minimum average temperature (TN), average temperature (TG), average annual precipitation (PRCPTOT), number of wet days (RR1), reference evapotranspiration (ET0), maximum number of consecutive dry days (CDD), maximum cumulative precipitation in 5 days (Rx5day), average duration of heat waves (HWF), maximum average precipitation associated with a return period of 10 years and 50 years (RV10year, RV50year), average precipitation of wet days (SDII) and number of warm days (TX90P).
These indicators are of high spatial resolution (approximately 1km*1km) and correspond to four time windows: a historical window (1971-2000) obtained from historical series of weather stations and three future windows (2011-2040; 2041-2070; 2071-2100) obtained from data from Euro-CORDEX simulations.
The indicators for both SPC8.5 (ESCENARIOS II) and SPC4.5 (URBAN KLIMA 2050) were obtained after applying bias correction techniques to the Euro-CORDEX simulations (correction "EQM-Empirical Quantile Mapping") (Wilke et al., 2013; GutiƩrrez et al., 2017), which have allowed a better fit of the models and achieve, in addition to a high spatial resolution, also a high temporal resolution.
