Description

The mosaic of the orthophoto of the so-called "American Flight" (AMS Flight, Army Map Service) over the Region of Murcia is the result of the scanning, digitization, orthorectification and radiometric treatment of the frames that the Army Geographic Center had in its photographic archive. The mosaic presents a complete coverage of the Region of Murcia. It is presented in grayscales with a resolution of 1 m. The date of capture of the data is the year 1956. Between 1956 and 1957 the cartographic service of the United States Army made a photogrammetric flight that covered the entire Spanish national territory. In the historical context of the "cold war", this flight was part of an ambitious project aimed at carrying out a cartographic survey of Europe. Once the documents had been declassified, they were placed on the market.
