Mosaic of the orthophoto of the so-called "American Flight" Seríe A. The flight of 1945-46 or Project Casey Janes, due to its antiquity and wide national coverage, is the airphotographic flight of greater historical interest available in Spain and other European countries. The origin of this flight is the need that the Allies had, after landing in Normandy in June 1944, to have an adequate mapping of European territory. (USAF) and the United Kingdom (RAF), which designed the ‘Casey Jones’ project, to carry out a photogrammetric flight of a large part of Europe and North Africa. This flight is also known as ‘Series A’ photogrammetric flight.
