Awarding organisations must investigate and issue penalties for any candidate or centre malpractice that might undermine the integrity of an exam.

Ofqual collects and reports information on the total number of incidents of malpractice in the GCSE, AS and A level summer examination series in England. No geographic breakdown of the data is currently published.
