Airborne emissions at MBA sites
Description
This report documents the results of emission measurements at three sites for mechanical-biological waste treatment (MBA). The parameters of total organic carbon, methane and nitrous oxide were continuously measured over four weeks, while ammonia discontinuously measured mainly in raw and pure gas. In addition, individual measurements for the parameters of organic carbon, dust and mercury were carried out at a plant site. Based on the measured values, specific emission loads per tonne of treated waste could be estimated. Depending on operational management and different air and exhaust air management, there are very different emission levels at the sites. The results serve as a basis for regulation of emissions from MBA plants in Austria. The measurement results in detail
