Description
Installations for the intensive rearing or rearing of poultry or pigs are subject to the Industrial Emissions Directive from a certain number of animal places. In the case of permit conditions for such installations, so-called BAT conclusions should therefore be used as a reference document. They describe the best available techniques (BAT). The guide supports plant operators and the competent authorities in applying the BAT conclusions in intensive livestock farming. Calculation methods are proposed for the monitoring of ammonia, dust, total excreted nitrogen and phosphorus. This report is an update of the Federal Environment Agency’s report number 636 from 2017.
