Landfill Gas Energy Projects and Landfills in LMOP Database

Description

Web map published by the U.S. EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) that shows currently operational landfill gas energy projects and landfills listed in the LMOP Database having latitude and longitude coordinates. Data for operational projects are provided in 4 layers by Project Type Category (electricity, direct use, RNG pipeline injection, and RNG local use). Data for landfills are provided in 3 layers by Landfill Category (candidate, with project, and other). LMOP defines a candidate landfill as one that is accepting waste or has been closed for five years or less, has at least one million tons of waste, and does not have an operational, under-construction, or planned project; candidate landfills can also be designated based on actual interest in the site. The map also incorporates environmental justice (EJ) demographic layers and Tribal data layers, so that users can identify these areas as they review landfill and project locations.Data from the LMOP Database are available at https://www.epa.gov/lmop/lmop-landfill-and-project-database. EJScreen is available at https://www.epa.gov/ejscreen. The Tribal layer data are available at https://geopub.epa.gov/arcgis/rest/services/EMEF/Tribal/MapServer.
