Circular building economy.
Description
The basis for a comprehensive white paper concept was developed for the successful implementation of a circular economy in construction. Interviews with relevant stakeholders enabled the most important drivers and hurdles to be identified and good practice examples to be collected. A central element is the integral planning, which sets the course for later decommissionability with the choice of building materials. Overall life cycle assessment, certification systems and building information modeling support decision-making. Resource conservation can be achieved by extending the lifespan and reusing existing buildings as well as by efficient material flow management. The challenge is to create the right conditions to push implementation into practice.
