Conservation of wood and wood products
Description
The report describes the state of the art of systems for the impregnation of wood and wood products with wood preservatives. The focus is on the different technologies for the treatment and storage of impregnated wood products as well as a presentation of the chemicals used and the descriptions of the companies producing impregnated wood products. In addition to the protective effect against wood-damaging organisms, the wood preservatives used also have an environmentally harmful potential. The report therefore describes strategies to prevent the release of wood preservatives into soil, water and air during the impregnation of wood and wood products as well as in the storage of impregnated goods and chemicals. The study complements the corresponding emission reduction measures as well as a list of the legal framework conditions.
