Good data quality. Data collected on site by steel industry experts in accordance with the IISI methodology and ISO 14040 standards, and consistency-checked by worldsteel LCA-experts. DEAM database used for upstream electricity data. DEAM data modified by worldsteel for Iron Ore by direct contact with 4 Iron Ore Mining Companies. Global coke production was based on worldsteel site specific data, for 28 coke making plants. An update of the data is being carried out in 2007/2008.
Technical Purpose: A steel section rolled in a hot rolling mill. Steel section includes I-beams, H-beams, wide-flange beams, and sheet piling. It can
be found on the market for direct use. This product is used in construction, multi-story buildings, industrial buildings, bridge trusses, vertical highway supports, and
riverbank reinforcement.
