IST status of chemical-physical waste treatment in Austria.
Description
Chemical-physical waste treatment is an important treatment option for hazardous waste in Austria. In 2021, 47 plants treated organic and inorganic waste. The nationwide treatment capacity was 1.065 million tonnes. The volume processed in the period 2019-2021 was around 690,000 tonnes per year. The data were collected using EDM and questionnaires. The type and quantity of input of waste and equipment as well as output, a process description and the methods used were queried. All operators of a chemical-physical treatment plant in Austria were contacted.
