Geostructural Paper 1:1M — Dataset
Description
The database of the Geological Map of Italy on the 1:1.000.000 scale is called GEO1MDB and is composed of 4 geometric layers and 3 descriptive tables.The layers are: Geological units (polygons), tectonic units (polygons), structural elements (lines) and regional tectonic elements (lines). The descriptive table of the geological units stratum contains the following information: Litological description of the unit, lower and upper geological age of the unit, Depositional environment, Orogenetic cycle, Type of units, Seal, Colour code. For the OneGeology-Europe project, 5 litological classes representative of the unit have been added to these attributes.In the table associated with tectonic units, there are: Orogenetic Cycle, Orogenetic Vergency, Unit Description, Structural Domain, Seal and Color Code. Finally, the table associated with the structural elements (linear type) contains the following attributes: Type structural element, vergency, observation method, Line orientation, Seal and Color Code. Some geomorphological elements also belong to this table, and for the 1GE project, a column has been added to the nomenclature name of linear elements (contacts and faults) defined by the WP3 of the project.
