Description
Law No 77 of 17 July 2020 on urgent measures in the field of health, support for work and the economy, and social policies linked to the epidemiological emergency caused by COVID-19 instructed ISTAT to define ‘a classification of economic activities with reference to areas with a high tourist density, in order to highlight the territorial tourist link ...’ (Article 182). On the basis of this mandate, ISTAT has drawn up a summary tourist density index that allows the municipalities to be classified into six groups: five for tourist municipalities with density ranging from very low to very high; the sixth group concerns non-tourist municipalities.
