The City of Lille manages a range of cultural facilities. Among these, three museums: the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille, the Musée de l'Hospice Comtesse and the Musée d'histoire naturelle, which mediate and preserve substantial funds.

The heritage collections in the Natural History Museum illustrate the diversity of life and human activities, be they scientific, industrial or everyday.
As such, the museum preserves approximately 460,000 objects, divided into four complementary collections: zoology (205 000 specimens), geology (190 000), extra-European ethnography (13 000) and science and technology (40 000 objects and 20 000 works).
This dataset lists the minerals in the geological collections, including their names, provenances, dates of arrival in the collection and their original collections.
