PGI: The Protegegee Geographical Indication (PGI) identifies an agricultural product, whether raw or processed, whose quality, reputation or other characteristics are linked to its geographical origin. PDO: The Appellation d’Origine Proteoïgee (PDO) designates a product in which all the production steps are re-aligned according to a know-how recognised in the same geographical area, which gives its characteristics to the product. It is a European sign that protects the name of the product throughout the European Union. AOC: The Designation of Origin Control (AOC) of products meeting the criteria of the PDO and protects the denomination in the French territory. It is a step towards the PDO, which is now a European sign. It may also concern products not covered by European regulations (for example, forest products).
