Sic 2019 – Sites of Community Importance

Description

Special Areas of Conservation/Sites of Community Importance (SAC/SIC) 2019 Natura2000 Network – Habitats, Wildlife and Flora Directive The Natura2000 network is at the heart of the European Union’s nature conservation policy and is a key element of the objective of halting biodiversity loss. This network is set up in accordance with two Community Directives, the Birds Directive of 1979 and the Habitats, Wildlife and Flora Directive dating from 1992. The National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) is responsible for the management and dissemination of the national reference layers sent to the European Commission. These results from the assembly of the elements transmitted by the DREALs. The integration, deletion or modification of a site is subject to an administrative procedure defined by the European Directive and national laws. Depending on the status of this procedure, a site may have the status of Special Area of Conservation (SAC) or Site of Community Importance (SIC). The sic1912 layer contains all the sites proposed by France under the Habitats, Wildlife, Flora Directive on 15 December 2019, regardless of status.
