Description

The oldest materials in the North of the island, which have long been subjected to the action of climatic and biological phenomena, have originated deep, fertile soils rich in natural conditions. In areas of recent volcanism, the rocks are little altered and the soils are thin, stony, poor and of low fertility. The soils of La Palma vary between these two extremes and offer a great qualitative richness and extraordinary diversity. On the island are present 12 edafotaxas of the 17 existing in the Canary Islands and of the 30 recognized in the world
