Description
The oldest materials of the North of the island, which have long been subjected to the action of climatic and biological phenomena, have created deep, fertile and rich soils in natural conditions. In areas of recent volcanism, the rocks are little altered and the soils are of low thickness, stony, poor and of low fertility. The soils of La Palma vary between these two extremes and offer great qualitative richness and extraordinary diversity. On the island there are 12 edafotaxas of the 17 existing in the Canary Islands and of the 30 recognised in the world
