Web application for consultation of the Island Planning Plan of La Palma
The Island Planning Plan for the Island of La Palma (PIOLP) is the instrument for the management of the island's natural, territorial and urban resources. The territorial scope of the Plan is the entire area of the island of La Palma. The PIOLP defines the model of organization and use of the territory to ensure its sustainable development. Sustainability is taken as a general premise for the definition of a territorial model that guarantees a harmonious and respectful development with the environment. In order to give effect to this integrated and sustainable territorial model in accordance with the General Planning Guidelines, this Island Plan establishes the following guiding principles: The island as a reference unit Natural and environmental values as a resource, Biosphere Reserve as a general framework Agriculture as an expression of the relationship with the territory and as an economic-social reference Insularity and relationship with the outside: The local population as protagonist Infrastructures:
support and service to economic activities The guarantee of accessibility and the promotion of public transport Island, local and tourist facilities Urban centers, rural and agricultural settlements Tourism as an option for the future.
