Description
One of the invasive species that has spread the most in recent years in the Canary Islands is the one known as cat tail (Pennisetum setaceum). It is a plant of African origin that has become one of the most dominant and aggressive species in certain points of the island, reaching its distribution proportions difficult to eradicate. Although for more than a decade different campaigns have been developed promoted by His Excellency Cabildo Insular de La Palma, the pauses between cleaning work have not allowed to reduce their populations, or even stop their progress in the island territory.
