Monthly traction energy consumption (total)

Description

Total traction energy consumption per month in MWh since 1987. Producers produce electricity in power plants. This electricity is transported at an alternating high voltage to Infrabel's traction substations. These substations convert the voltage and distribute it via the overhead line. Thanks to pantographs, trains can draw the necessary electrical energy to power electric locomotives and/or wagons and comfort services for passenger trains such as heating, lighting and air conditioning.
