Sites to be redeveloped by law-Wallonia

Description

This dataset includes the perimeters of sites identified as being to be redeveloped, i.e. to be remediated, rehabilitated, renovated or rebuilt. and benefiting from a redevelopment order (SAR de droit). The "sites to be redeveloped" regime refers to the redevelopment of property or set of properties that have been or are intended to accommodate activities (other than housing) and whose current state is contrary to the proper development of the premises or that constitute a destructuring of the urbanized fabric. As a result, they may be sites of economic activity (SAED) but also sites used for social activities such as schools, hospitals, sports or cultural facilities such as theatres and cinemas or facilities of a public nature or intended for public use such as power plants, transport infrastructure, fire services and sites that have hosted several functions simultaneously or successively. As it stands, these sites are often abandoned along railways or rivers of great interest to economic investors and are extremely well located. The purpose of the SAR scheme is to carry out acts and redevelopment works including remediation (within the meaning of the Decree on soil management), rehabilitation, renovation, construction or reconstruction, concepts defined by the Walloon Government Order of 14 March 2008 on sites to be redeveloped, replacing Articles 453 to 470 of the CWATUPE. In this context, the perimeter of a site to be redeveloped is intended to make it easier to clean up land in order to improve the living environment in suitable areas. The application for recognition of a SAR perimeter may be initiated by the Municipality, by another public utility body or by the owner(s). The concept of a site to be redeveloped has replaced the former concept of a site of disused economic activity (SAED). This dataset is updated on a quarterly basis, compared to the data published by the SPW.
