Maple soot reports

Description

A follow-up is conducted by the team of the Walloon Observatory of Forest Health to understand the evolution of this disease and evaluate the future of maple stands.
Monitoring is carried out on 20 trees per site during two visits (June and September). Quotations are made on each tree to assess its general condition. The percentages of dead branches and branching loss are estimated to determine the DEPERIS dieback index (DSF). The percentage of defoliation is also sidelined.
A survey of the symptoms present on each tree is carried out and all attention is paid to the presence of cracks on the trunk, soot, black spots, oozing necrosis and gourmands; the abundance of seed production (fruitings) is also noted.
