Signal stations

Description

A switch station is a facility that allows switches to be operated, routes to be defined and signals to be controlled so that rail traffic can flow safely within its area of action. The regularity of train service, in collaboration with Traffic Control, and the operation of public address and telefiche in stations (information to passengers on train traffic) are also ensured from the switch stations. Infrabel is gradually concentrating the switching stations in larger control centres. In this way, we want to further harmonise and modernise rail traffic control.
