Monthly traction energy consumption (with distribution)

Description

Total traction energy consumption per month in MWh since 2009 with distribution between passengers, TGV and freight and distribution between regions Producers produce electricity in power plants. Electricity is transported at alternating high voltage to Infrabel's traction substations. These substations convert the voltage and distribute it via the overhead contact line. Thanks to pantographs, trains can draw the necessary electrical energy to power electric locomotives and/or wagons and comfort services for passenger trains such as heating, lighting and air conditioning.
