Description

This list presents all the AMOs and MADOs active on the territory of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. An AMO is an Open Environment Actions service, intended for young people under the age of 18 (or even under the age of 22 for some AMOs). It carries out social and educational prevention activities in a given territory and in the absence of any administrative or judicial mandate. The aim of these actions is to promote the development and empowerment of young people in their social environment and living environment. Any young person, as well as his or her family or familiars, can call on his or her services. Beneficiaries may terminate their participation at any time. The actions of AMOs can be individual (support, mediation, guidance, legal aid, etc.) or collective (development of actions with young people, prevention and awareness-raising, etc.). AMOs can also bring out, enhance and relay the voices of young people, their families and their family members. In addition to all these missions, the 24/7 AMOs welcome, day and night, any young person in difficulty as well as his family or his familiars. They ensure a continuous presence, a telephone hotline and a place accessible primarily to young people, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These AMOs also offer overnight reception (one night, renewable once) for young people under the age of 18, if any other solution proves impracticable or inappropriate. The Maisons de l’Adolescent (MADOs) are services whose main mission is to bring together in one place the skills of various professional partners, in order to organise a comprehensive response and approach to the difficulties faced by adolescents, their families and family members. They carry out preventive actions in a defined territory, outside any administrative or judicial mandate. They shall ensure the anonymity of the persons who call upon them. The MADOs welcome young people between the ages of 11 and 22. Actions can be individual (response to a request, reorientation, etc.) or collective. The stakeholders of the MADOs are subject to professional secrecy. Young people, their families and those familiar with the proposed actions are free to take part; they can end it at any time. Finally, in addition to AMOs and MADOs, four services implement specific educational projects (PEPs) for young people who request them in an unmandated framework. The Walloon Network for the Fight against Poverty proposes individual and collective preventive actions. The Abaka PEP can host and accommodate young people in the short term, this 24 hours a day. PEPs can also offer emancipatory activities such as organising citizen projects (Solidarity) or supporting young people in national or international mobility projects (Dynamo International).
